It is not a Snowdrop (Galanthus) - dt.: Schneeglöckchen
- it is a Frühlings-Knotenblume (Leucojum vernum), auch Märzenbecher, - Engl.: > Spring snowflake ( Leucojum vernum ).
The snowdrop is total white and it has 3 petals
The Snowflake has 5 petals with a green point

None of the outer petals have the green dot.

Bitterly cold here yesterday and today as well. I broke the ice in our birdbath this morning and was frozen again within the hour! We had a walk round the block late afternoon yesterday but decided against it today! We'll probably venture out tomorrow though :-)

Yes very cold here as well Keith, with a bitter wind and a few light snow flurries. You look after your birds well. I'm not surprised that it soon froze again though! I am hoping for a longer walk tomorrow. We just have to be brave and wrap up very warm ;-))

We went out to Southsea today to visit a friend who is in a support "bubble" with us (she has learning difficulties, so we try and see her at least weekly, even though it means a 20 min drive). I took a few photos as well...........nothing spectacular, but nice to do anyway. It was absolutely freezing and even with gloves I soon couldn't feel my fingers! It's forecast to be even colder tomorrow so I doubt we'll go out again! Got a text from the Doctor's Surgery though to say Jackie and I will be called forward soon for our vaccinations.....yay!

There was a bitter wind Keith, which we don't have today thankfully. That is good news for you and Jackie. I drove through the RNAS at Yeovilton yesterday, on my way to my dental appointment and they had a vaccination hub there. It's the furthest I have driven since before Christmas :)

A beautiful capture Rosalyn it looks nice when you look out but that wind, you don't collect expensive snowdrops with different markings ??

I haven't been outside yet today Peter, but I can see the wind has dropped, thank goodness. These pretty snowdrops were along a fairly newly laid hedgerow down the lane. They looked so pretty. Keep warm and have a good day.

These are double snowdrops, Galanthus nivalis Flore Pleno. They always hang their heads in my garden. Any green shoots in our garden are looking very sad at the moment. Hopefully when the 'warmer' spell arrives all will be well.
