I love how yew can be clipped to within an inch of its life and still remain green. This little arbour must be wonderful on a hot day.
We've been to Attingham Park this morning. The NT have told us that the parkland is remaining open throughout the lockdown which is such good news as there is a vast expanse of woodland and pastureland to explore. Of course the shop and the house will be closed.

Thank you Amelia. I was booked into Stourhead for Friday but it just just been cancelled. I am now wondering if the parkland around will be open after what you say. Hope you get some good walks in for the month.

El sujeto una maravilloso trabajo de jardinería, que no es flor de un día. Parece que también hay otro tunel que se cruza. Esas formas con “jorobas” requieren un especial cuidado de poda y un elevador o escalera. A la derecha también se ven artísticos arcos menores.

Thank you very much Jose. Yes the tunnels go each way. In times of health and safety it would be interesting to see what they use for pruning such heights! On the right they are rose arches.

I would not like the task of keeping thiat in t rim :~) The trick at Stourhead uded to be get there at 0700hrs and there is no one about the place. The leaves ought to be just about right now

I can appreciate the amount of work that it took but it's a form of horticulture that doesn't appeal to me at all, there is a lot of shaped yew at Packwood House, they were having problems with to many visitors compacting the soil. I hope you were able to make the most of todays sunshine Rosalyn

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! The shape of that hedge is so sensuous and wonderful to behold. The tunnel through is irresistible to me, and I loved reading about the area too. How nice it would be to sit in there on a hot day and enjoy the surrounding beauty.

Loved reading the comments that backed up my thoughts about crazy hedge upkeep! I am such a huge fan of topiaries and this one would have me bouncing all around it and any others they had as well. I can see why some wouldn't like such artificially created shapes but I sure do love them like crazy!

You have me thinking of poodle cuts...as much as I cannot stand contrived things and idiotic fru fru like ribbons and bows on dogs and babies, I ADORE poodle cuts (and other dog cuts too)...take a look at this google search, what fun! I am so pleased you LOVEx3 then Janet ;-)) I think it is great fun and very unusual for the time it was planted. There is a house I often pass in the car that has the funniest topiary in the front garden that makes me smile every time...I just wish I had the nerve to stop and photograph it! Maybe one day when it's almost dark ;-))

I know what you mean about the poodle cuts Janet. I have had three poodles in my time...I love them! The last one, Poppy, died in 2015 at the age of 16, but she hated being groomed or trimmed, so she would often be very shaggy! I wish she was still here :(
