Ringstead Bay ~ Dorset

Ringstead Bay and the small village of Ringstead are located on Dorset's Jurassic Coast and is known for its natural environment and fossils. Ringstead Bay has a pebble and shingle beach with some sand. There are offshore reefs approximately 0.6 kilometres (0.37 mi) in length at the western end opposite the village that are uncovered at low tide. This forms an intertidal zone between the low cliffs to the north and the English Channel to the south. Immediately to the east are the white chalk cliffs of White Nothe, dominating the bay. It is possible to walk to the top, with views of the bay and across to the Isle of Portland.

A most beautiful coastal view, Rosa. Can you get here and back home within a day? Lucky you. because of the Covid 19 restrictions, we are now confined to Shropshire even though Wales is just about 12 miles away.

Yes easily Amelia, it's exactly 42 miles away. We had hoped to visit Durdle Door but there were too many people there. My friends living in Wales, near Llanelli, have been pretty much locked-down and there have been many Covid cases in their village.

This is a really beautiful image...........captured in wonderful light and colours. I really like the textures on the surface of the sea made by the wind and the row of buoys Sharp and detailed throughout! Very nicely done Rosa.

Two super images in the PiPs as well......you've captured some lovely detail and earthy colours in the first PiP and I love the composition in the 2nd PiP - those steps look very inviting (and not too steep) and surrounded by lovely green foliage.

Thank you for your kind comments Keith. As I mentioned to Amelia the plan was to visit Durdle Door but there were far too many people there, so drove along the coast a little way and walked along the South West Coast Path from Ringstead to Osmington Mills....and the pub!

I have to say, it did get rather steep along the way, but just took it carefully. It was a great day out. I hope you also had a good weekend and wish you a good new week.
