Gold Hill (1)

Gold Hill (1)
After the mist lifted over Shaftesbury it was very hot. Probably not the best time to walk from St James' up to Shaftesbury via Gold Hill!! A good job there was a bench half way up!

Three gorgeous photo's Rosa.... I never tire of looking at photo's of this street... I am not sure
but I have seen a more up to date ad showing a later version of Hovis, and the boy on the bike!

All the best, John.

Thank you John. I do sometimes think I am putting too many of Gold Hill on here, but it is difficult not to take more pictures when walking up...or down it. The Hovis advert is the old one re-mastered apparently.

All the best, Rosa.

Cracking captures of the famous street Rosa. All equally good but my favourite is definitely the main shot with the great PoV. Me, I would have worked with gravity on this one!

Have a great Sunday, Doug

Hmmmm - Shaftesbury again! Those few times I spent there, I always enjoyed this little country town!
I only know Golden Hill from looking down - there are so many steep hill slopes in Austria, it isn't necessary to "enjoy" them abroad, too.
I like the 2nd image most. It is a great pov and the yellowish green give a nice dot of colour to the houses, that only seem to be alike ...

You will probably see Shaftesbury many times in my gallery Leon, as I live not far away ;-))
Thank you for your great comments. I like a walk up the hill, but maybe not in such hot weather!

You certainly know how to suffer for your art Rosa! I'm not sure my old knees would have been up to that. I'm impressed :-))

Worth the effort for these three beautiful images though..................they look lovely in the sunshine and it's good to see shots of this iconic hill being taken looking upwards - I've only seen them looking downwards. I especially like the cobblestones and the colour of the brickwork on the houses. Excellent work!

If you keep up this sort of exercise, you'll be cycling up there with your bread in no time :-))

Don't I just Keith ;-)) Rather foolish really, as no one else was attempting it!
Watch out for me on the bike!! Have a great Monday :)

It looks quite a steep hill slope, Rosa, and I heard it was hot in England too, so it must have been a hard walk! But it was worth the effort, considering the three beautiful pictures you took! Beautiful architecture and cobble stone , inviting me to visit Shaftesbury! :-)

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Adele club
Yes very steep Adele, and very hot! Luckily they have a seat half way up. I also had Luna with me, so stopped to give her a drink of water. I was born in Shaftesbury, but the maternity hospital is now a home for the elderly....I wonder if I will end my days there! LOL!

I like that you have taken photos going up, it looks quite different from the usual shots! I can imagine that the steep hill was challenging in the heat....

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Gudrun club
It was rather a challenge Gudrun, but when you are down in St James...you have to get back up to Shaftesbury ;-))
