Yes I see what you mean about the fence Keith! The whole memorial is quite spectacular from the front but difficult to take a picture of because of the busy road. Pleased you like this one though :)

That silence just after the the family have left gives you a sigh of relief....although, like me you would have them back and love their presence anytime at all ;-)) I have had my youngest daughter's dog and two rabbits for a week while they were in Menorca...I had forgotten how much work a dog is! She is lovely though. Wish you a good weekend.

I thought this lion looked familiar!!

Superb colours. I just looked at my pics from there, and it didn't look so golden.. Maybe it got a recent repaint!! Or maybe the sun was shining on you!

Glad you recognised it. I took it from the car, waiting at traffic lights! It is quite spectacular I always think, from the front, but such a busy road makes it difficult to get a nice picture. It has been painted recently apparently :)

Wasn't something similar done for Her current Maj's 50th?
Oh, no. It wasn't. Instead she had to pretend to enjoy some asinine pop singers prancing about on rooftops. (My memory is poor on this point and I might be confusing it with her 60th. No need to enlighten me; Although I have 100% respect for Her Majsty and the incredible work she does, I don't really get too bothered by any aspect of the Monarchy any more).

At least she doesn't have to attend the awful Royal Variety Show now....she sends the young ones!! I also think The Queen is 100% worth her weight in gold. Just imagine if we had to have a president.....a Boris or Trump!!! Long live the Queen :-))

Well, on that front, I couldn't agree more, Rosa!
And I used to pride myself on being able to draw an accurate family tree (with correct dates) of the kings of England back to Egbert of Wessex in 802. Maybe I might be 75% accurate today as I haven't attempted it for decades. How I knew these unimportant facts and dates at all is a mystery to me now. I couldn't remember other useful facts for school exams for instance!

I loved history at school Andy, and used to be able to name them in order, which was good as it was usually a question in exams :) I have to say I couldn't do it now. I do usually get questions about Kings and Queens right on The Chase though :))

I struggled to get any sort of shot here Rosa. I couldn't even get a very good shot of the old bathing hut, - too much traffic and too may people for it to be anything but messy. You did well and I love how the lion gleams in the sunlight. A belated HFF to you and enjoy the rest of your week.
