It's All Whisky Under The Bridge

Old Packhorse Bridge over the river Dulnain at Carrbridge in Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.
The bridge was built in 1717 and is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands. In 1829 it was badly damaged in severe flooding known as 'muckle spate' and remains in this condition to this day.

Good evening and many thanks Diana. It doesn't look that safe to me even without the tot or two although I understand that in the summer months some hardy locals jump off the bridge into the river. I am not sure if that makes them hardy or foolhardy, ....or maybe that really is whisky under the bridge!!

Thank you very much Jean. Really appreciated. I love the high arch too. The bridge was built to allow coffins to be transported safely across the river to the church, and was originally known as the coffin bridge'. Packhorse Bridge sounds much nicer though

They must have taken some building back in the day. This one was known as the coffin bridge as it was used when taking coffins across the water to the church
