Er ist wieder da - He is back again

Pleasant surprise: Yesterday, in a Franconian nature reserve, I observed several times the chequered blue (Scolitantides orion), which I had already seen there last year. The very small butterfly is inconspicuously dark with a little blue on the upper side. The underside, on the other hand, shows a strikingly beautiful black and white pattern with a yellow band of colour. The eggs are laid on various species of Hylotelephium, especially Hylotelephium telephium. The interesting biology of the butterfly is described in the Wikipedia article.
For understandable reasons I cannot disclose where the butterfly was found. This butterfly species is extremely endangered in its existence and is therefore listed as threatened with extinction in the German Red List of Threatened Species.
