PLEASE don't litter!

PLEASE don't litter!
Perhaps it was light enough to carry when full, but too heavy once it was empty?!!!! This was a photo opportunity that I would have happily not had, but then decided to use it as a reminder to say: "PLEASE don't leave your garbage in our natural areas. Much as I love Tim Horton's coffee, I (and my friends) don't enjoy seeing your empty containers when I'm out on a walk!" Our natural areas would be so full of garbage if it wasn't for those who pick up every piece of garbage every single time they go out for a walk, sometimes every day. Thank you to those of you who willingly help to keep garbage out of the parks. Taken in Fish Creek Park on 31 October 2013, somewhere between Bebo Grove and Shannon Terrace.

Many people are conscience of our land and our environment ... but there is a small percentage that just do not care ... I meet some of these people in the park ... sometimes I just tell them off ... but most of the time, I approach the garbage they have just thrown away and pick it up in front of them and walk to the garbage and dispose of it ... not one word is spoken!!

A good way to handle it, Art! Unfortunately (or maybe, fortunately), I never actually see people throw away garbage - I just come across it later.
