The road to nowhere

The road to nowhere
This is a typical sight in Calgary these days - ever since the Flood of the Century that hit southern Alberta in June 2013. This morning, 31 October 2013, during a three-hour birding walk, I photographed this destroyed pathway (that had the yellow line down the middle) that we used to walk along, down in Fish Creek Park, between Bebo Grove and Shannon Terrace. The rest of the path and the entire creek bank have been washed away. Sights like this are all the way along the Bow River, Elbow River and creeks. Many places are still closed, as repair has not yet been done and the areas are unsafe. The devastation further towards and into the mountains is still horrific. Makes you wonder how many years it will take to get most of this damage fixed. I know they reckon it will take 10 years for Calgary to get back to "normal".
