Yellow Clematis seedhead with bokeh

Yellow Clematis seedhead with bokeh
The hairy seedheads of Yellow Clematis are very beautiful, as are the bright yellow flowers. Unfortunately, despite its beauty, it is an invasive species and widespread. This is one of three species of Clematis that occur in the wild in Alberta, the other two being the native Western Clematis and the Purple Clematis/Blue Clematis. This yellow species was introduced from Japan as an ornamental garden plant, but has now spread to natural areas where it chokes out and kills native plants, shrubs and trees. Took this macro shot at Shannon Terrace in Fish Creek Park, on 29 October 2013. Yes, that IS snow in the background!

Ha, there will come a time when most species will inter-mingle ... then, it will be the survival of the fittest ... with 7 billion people on this planet and growing ... how can one prevent other species from being introduced ... people for all over the world are coming here ... bringing all kinds of strange wildlife from their previous country ...

Outstanding shot of this seedhead Anne ... very fine strands and superb lighting too!!
