Armillaria mellea

Armillaria mellea
Any ID that is given to my fungus photos is always tentative. However, this group of mushrooms was identified as Armillaria mellea by the leader of a Fungus Foray that some of us went on, in West Bragg Creek, on 24 August 2013.

LeapFrog has particularly liked this photo

Very nice photo, Anne. Armillaria mellea is a very complex group . Many of the group can be identified farther. One of the most common one here in Alberta is Armillaria ostoyae. A lemon yellow color under the ring on the stalk is a trade mark for these Honey mushrooms.
