I played this for my Grade 8 piano exam aged 16. I got distinction when I thought at the time that I had failed miserably.
The head examiner told me afterwards that while nerves meant that my Mozart and Beethoven renditions didn't merit distinction, my Schubert (this piece) more than merited a distinction for the exam overall!
Needless to say this has been a favourite of mine ever since!!

It's a shame, Rosa but I can no longer play the piano. The last time I had a piano to practice on on a regular basis was when I was 18. It's not like riding a bike. I can't even read music any more and coming from someone who has a qualification to teach music, that tends to surprise people!

Yes that is surprising Andy! I don't expect it would take you long to pick it up again. Although everything seems to take longer when you get older....I am talking of myself of course ;-))
