The wall is low here, on the mountain-slope side of the monastery, where hardly anybody goes. On the roadward side, the wall is massive!

We had our first roast chestnuts of the year from a street seller (chestnut-monger? - I've no idea what they are called in English!) on a freezing cold and wet Sunday; delicious!
