Granite and lichen, Tubby's Head. For Pam.

Granite and lichen, Tubby's Head. For Pam.
I like the colours here; the orange, greys, greens and blues.
Rock samphire is abundant here.

Many a chef would love that place Andy! I've never tasted samphire myself.

Thanks, Rosa.
Sadly this is the cheap and cheerful stuff. It's not for sophisticated chefs as the iodene taste is too strong for many (in my family, only my Mum and I like it).
Chefs go for the more subtly-flavoured, much rarer and more expensive Marsh Samphire.
Be that as it may, at one time this was gathered as a valuable food resource and people would rope themslves up and get the stuff by abseiling down the sea cliffs!

It's a friendly little promontory and I agree about the colors. I'm wondering about rock samphire - never heard of it, much less eaten it.
