More granite!

More granite!
From El Cancho de La Bola to El Cancho Gordo, La Sierra de La Cabrera. You can just about make out the path to follow on the opposite hillside. The fun stretch is near the top!

Sami Serola (inactive), micritter, cammino, Fred Fouarge and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

I sense an ambush.

Who by, John?
A bunch of scouts?
I very rarely see anybody in these mountains, despite there being so close to Madrid!
I do occasionally see scout groups, singing the Spanish equivalent of 'Ging Gang Gooly' or whatever it's called in English, and disturbing the peace. There's something about the Spanish character that feels the need to fill quiet and peaceful places with as much noise as possible; you can hear them coming from 5 km away, so no ambush possible !

Honestly, it looks pretty steep! Lots of huffing and puffing...;-)

I used to take this path twice a week about 5-7 years ago. I was still celebrating my new-found reserves of energy having given up smoking a few years beforehand!

I never knew there was so much granite in the world until I saw your photos. Looks magnificent here. Scotland has plenty of rock but I found in my hillwalking days that it also has a lot of very wet boggy hilltops.

Scotland has very much more granite than in the areas I walk. But I tend to be fortunate in that I don't get boggy tops! My girlfriend might beg to differ on this last point though!

It's a path I have ascended maybe a dozen times and descended well over a 100!
'How is this possible?' I hear you ask yourself.
Well I normally walk this route coming towards the camera and take a different route on the return journey.
Best wishes,
Andy
