Captive cones

Captive cones
Today's Sunday Challenge is: A cone, or cones, or something cone-shaped.

Over the last couple of weeks the road through our village has been undergoing a programme of pothole filling which was very much overdue. In one week our local garage replaced 6 suspension springs, one of them from our car. The work is finally finished and on Friday the road maintenance brigade finally removed all the cones and signs.

Filippo Tosi, Erhard Bernstein, LotharW, Sylvain Wiart and 20 other people have particularly liked this photo

Great use of light and shadow, Amelia, and excellent use of repeating shapes. All the best, Joe

Great light. They'll be off to fresh fields and pastures new. No shortage of potholes to be filled in. The back roads here are in terrible condition and when it's wet you have no idea of where the deepest potholes are. It's a lottery.

A very good still life! I especially like how the light catches the top of the right cone. Potholes, haha, there'd be plenty to fill in our street... but instead telecom or the gas board come and open up more holes;-)

Nice working image. And for me it is good to realise that there are potholes in my city but much less than it used to be.

Great shot at the end of some much needed road work it seem. It seems in the better months when the road work usually is undertaken, it a maze of cones everywhere. Maddening but the road work is long overdue most of the time.

HaHa, I once had a couple of these cones captured after I saw them making a nuisance of themselves in the streets :) I think they had been left behind by the rest of their giant army -maybe AWOLS? - I was quite angry after seeing brigade upon brigade of them marching along the motorway I was travelling without a human guardian to be seen. I was just doing my bit for humanity here - so no need to praise me for my bravery in capturing a couple! -They would not reveal their plans nor purpose when I tried to interrogate them!

Thanks for the memory Amelia. keep safe. Herb
