HFF from Ruyton XI Towns again.

HFF from Ruyton XI Towns again.
Much as we like the village, it would be nice to walk somewhere else for a change.

History of Coronavirus in the UK

A year ago today, two parademics arrived at the York Staycity apartment-hotel in white hazmat suits and headed to a first-floor room. This was the moment it was confirmed that the novel coronavirus had come to the UK.

"You were hoping, in the back of your head, that it's another false alarm," says Keith Freeman, Staycity's chief operating officer. "You're also thinking 'what are the chances?'"

The family - one of whom had returned from Wuhan a week earlier, the day the city went into lockdown - were taken by paramedics discreetly out of a fire exit to the waiting ambulance and to the regional infectious diseases unit at Castle Hill Hospital, near Hull.

Dr Anda Samson, an infectious disease specialist, had been about to go to sleep when she received the news the mother and son had tested positive - the first people in the UK to do so.

She remembers thinking how well they looked, with only "a bit of a fever and some flu-like symptoms". The main task was to ensure they did not contaminate anyone else.

"We knew this was something big and it was bigger than just us, but we never really expected that it would take over the world in the way that it did," she said.

Perfect weather, a good perspective - much better than taking turns around the block in a town! But I do understand you'd like to something else every now and then;-)
HFF, Amelia, have a good weekend and take care!

I love the strong diagonal composition of your image, Amelia. Lots of interesting diagonal layers to look at: the pathway, the verge, the fence, the snow and the green field. All this lying beneath a beautiful blue sky. I hope you have a great weekend. Stay safe! All the best, Joe

Well, I think we are all dreaming of going somewhere else for a change.... here lockdown again as it seems we are the worse country attacked by covid, the UK mutation of the virus is taking a 50% toll...
We have to wait.
Nevertheless for people confined in towns our life is a luxury, so I guess we cannot complain.

I guess even the loveliest place can get boring when there's nowhere else to wander for a bit of change ... But I am envious of that crisp layer of snow in the shady areas and that clear blue sky (nothing here but endless rain for weeks ...).
I can identify with the narrator in your "History of the Corona virus in the UK". First we all thought they might be exaggerating, then we hoped it could be contained ... But here in Italy we had to face the facts well before any other country (except China) had to: it was here and it was spreading fast and it was killing people in staggering numbers. And yet, I too must confess that back in the spring of 2020 I could not really imagine today's scenario ...

HFF all the same, Amelia. On Fridays, while I enjoy people's HFFs, I try to pretend we are not mired up to our knees in a deadly battle against a tiny but lethal enemy.

HFF. I am trying to rediscover some local walks, paths I have not trod in years BUT it doesn’t mean other people aren’t using them every day. Plenty of use and very muddy in parts.
As to the pandemic, I take no personal credit but was convinced it was going to be very bad from day one. Ever since it became the norm that millions of people travelled around the world for pleasure this was bound to happen again and again the only question each time was how deadly and how easy to contain. One day everything will look better ( I hope). Best Wishes Colin

This is really beautiful Amelia..............especially with the light dusting of snow on the field. The winter sunshine is really beautiful. I love the way you've composed this as well. Very well captured.

I know what your mean about being fed up with the same places.............we have some really nice walks quite nearby, but as we're not supposed to drive to them and my wife doesn't walk so well, we're stuck locally!

HFF to you. I hope you have an enjoyable weekend, but stay safe!

A lovely shot from your local walk once again Amelia and a view certainly liked by me .. interesting the see the telegraph poles planted across the field and seeming to change direction just when you think they may be heading for the building hidden by trees in the distance .. and also interesting terrain in the grass on right of shot too

A belated HFF and stay safe Amelia
