Underneath
This is the rail bridge over the River Severn in Shrewsbury, The river was just overflowing its banks, and although we managed to get down onto the riverside, much of the footpath was underwater.

Many thanks, Andy. The footpath by the river is tarmacked, but it was covered in silt and impassable at many places.

The river was very fast flowing, Gudrun. We intended to get as far down as the weir, but the path was impassable.

The river does get full a few times during the year. I blame the Wales for the heavy rainfall on the mountains. ;-)

The bridge was built in 1838 to a design by Robert Stephenson and Joseph Locke. All of the iron was cast at nearby Coalbrookdale. I'm delighted that you liked it.

Sunday was a beautiful day here, Dany, but the river takes a bit of time to rise as the water comes down from the Welsh mountains. We've had a few dry days now so the levels will have fallen.
