da ich noch ein flickr konto habe, und dieses früher über eine yahoo adresse lief, hab ich zugang zu diesen groups.

allerdings ergibt eine schnell suche nach zb "foto" nur Ergebnisse mit Gruppen die schon mindestens 1 Jahr unaktiv sind, viele davon mehr....

wo genau sollte man diese Werbung plazieren?

und wenn man die Gruppen nach letzter Aktivität listet, ist das "neueste" Datum der 11 januar

Deren Webseite ist halt kaputt. Meine de.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/pirates/info hat bspw. nen paar Diskussionen, auch in den letzten Tagen.

You're right: this promotion is not reducible to Yahoo groups, because their members certainly frequent other sites. The wider the promotion, on Facebook and elsewhere too, the more effective it will be.

great promotional text. i don't use, nor can i find, any yahoo groups. i tried to create a group, but i couldn't find a category to put it under that made sense.

i imagine of someone here has been using yahoo groups already (i just have an old connection around the group 'freecycle' and haven't used it in years, don't even know if it is still running), could post in that group.

i will use the promotional text here to post on other sites. does anyone know how to get on the radar of websites that post things like 'alternatives to yahoo groups'? what i saw in a search didn't have places to comment, but maybe there's one out there.

My username on my remaining flickr account literally says "... now at ipernity." Kind of sad that very few people I knew over there made the crossing.

Naja, die allerwenigsten dürften bei yahoogroups sein, um da ihre files auszutauschen, der Hauptnutzen ist ja nun ganz klar die Mailinglistenfunktionalität.
Und die bleibt bestehen.

Ich kannte Yahoo-Groups nicht mal. Aber nun, wo ich dort ein bisschen recherchiere, denke ich, die haben das gleiche Problem, welches wir auch hatten: Yahoo sitzt auf vielen Petabytes historischer Einträge, die kaum noch interessieren. So eine Art digitale Rumpelkammer. Es ist nur verständlich, dass nun aufgeräumt wird.

Weil ich mich also bei Yahoo nicht auskenne, habe ich einen anderen Weg gewählt: Ich habe den Werbetext als Kommentar unter drei der Meldungen abgelegt:

Für die Dateien mag das zutreffen, für die Diskussionen kann ich das Argument allerdings nicht nachvollziehen. Ein Mailinglistenarchiv macht schon Sinn, das dann einfach so zu löschen (ohne wirklich eine Exportfunktion anzubieten) ist aber mal so richtig scheiße.
Den FC St. Pauli - Fanclub "The Netpirates" gibt es seit 1998, und seitdem diskutieren wir miteinander bei yahoogroups. Da nun einfach mal innerhalb weniger Tage bzw. Wochen die vergangenen 21 Jahre Fanclubgeschichte auszulöschen ist einfach mal so richtig scheiße... und führt einem mal wieder vor Augen, dass man eigentlich in der Webwelt nur dann sicher ist, dass Dinge dauerhaft bestehen bleiben, wenn man sie sich selbst hostet und sich nicht auf einen fremden Anbieter verlässt.

Stefan, ich stimme Dir ja voll zu. Das Ganze ist extrem kurzfristig und benutzerunfreundlich, um nicht zu sagen willkürlich. So agiert man eigentlich nur, wenn einem das Wasser bis zum Halse steht. Angesichts der Größe von Yahoo und des langen Zeitraums, den es das Angebot schon gibt, denke ich, dass die jährlich Millionen für die Speicherung verbrennen. Die können gar nicht mehr anders. Vielleicht steht schon der Insolvenzverwalter vor der Tür.

Yahoo were sorry to see me leave when I cancelled my account this evening! I forgot I had the account until I checked my E-mail register and last used it when I migrated from Flickr to IP in 2013.

If ipernity had welcomed Flickr members, and most importantly Award Groups, in May2013 when Flickr had the BIG change, then ipernity would now be king.

The 'ipernauts' were the ones who didn't like the kind of award groups....

ipernity ist als bloße Kopie von flickr aufgrund der viel kleineren Userzahl nicht überlebensfähig. Überlebensfähig ist ipernity nur deswegen, weil ipernity Alleinstellungsmerkmale bietet. Eines dieser Alleinstellungsmerkmale sind die echten Kommentare der Nutzer, die nicht nur aus lustig blinkenden Bildchen bestehen.
Das ipernity jemals Awardgruppen willkommen geheißen hätte, ist eine glatte Lüge. Wenn ipernity diese Art von "Kommentaren" willkommen geheißen hätte, gäbe es ipernity heute nicht mehr. Es sind viele Personen von ipernity geflüchtet, als der Versuch unternommen wurde, aus ipernity ein zweites Flickr zu machen. Und die restlichen hätten für eine Finanzierung sicher nicht ausgereicht.

Wenn jemand neu in eine bestehende Gemeinschaft kommt, tut er gut daran, sich den Gepflogenheiten der bestehenden Gemeinschaft anzupassen - anders herum wird es nicht funktionieren. Diesen Anpassungsprozess haben die von Panoramio und View kommenden neuen ipernity-Nutzer auch hinbekommen. Deswegen verstehe ich nicht, warum du mit diesem viele Jahre alten Thema jetzt erneut ankommst. Zumal ipernity der absolute König ist - in genau seinem Bereich.

Keith, maybe you're right. I am too short at ipernity to judge these old stories. But what's the benefit of discussing mistakes of the old management? They happened, and much bigger ones. Fortunately! Otherwise there wouldn't be this wonderful project in which members themselves have the say. So: let's do it!

By the way: When do you become a club member? The offer for old members, who never had a club subscription, is still valid: You pay only 23.90 EUR for a 12-month Basic Subscription. A few clicks, and you can say: "I'm proud to support the future of ipernity by more than only words."

Moreover, you have the following benefits with regard to your guest account:

I've been at the site since back then but agree with Kiezkickerde, there's no sense dredging up a past when Ipernity was under different management. People had different opinions and visions and whether one agreed or not, each had the best interests of the site back then too.

So as Bernhard points out, let's instead focus on the present and all the great features, many unique only to Ipernity, the site has and work together for the brightest future possible. So it's what we can make of the site today now that it belongs to each and every member that really counts!

I share your views Xenophora. I think we all want to keep the site commercial free.

Keith, ipernity welcomed all Flickr members who were looking for a new home and even helped them to move as much as possible. Largely excluded was only the establishment of similar or equal Award Groups - and this for good reasons.

Als Mitglied des ima-Team kann ich nur sagen: Das ima-Team will der “Freiheit der Kunst”, die in den meisten westlichen Ländern Verfassungsrang hat, auch bei ipernity einen angemessenen Raum geben. Wenn sich also Award-Gruppen bilden, haben wir kein Problem damit.

Allerdings müssen die Administratoren die Gruppen-Richtlinien beachte. Ich zitiere den letzten Satz aus diesen Richtlinein: "Werbe in Kommentaren unter den Fotos Anderer niemals für Gruppen, schon gar nicht mit (animierten) Grafiken. Für diesen Zweck gibt es die spezielle Funktion “Für eine Gruppe vorschlagen” im Aktionsmenü."

In particular, group guidelines, thus also the ipernity group guidelines, are either not read at all or ignored by many, as experience shows. This was probably the reason for fearing that there would soon be just as many animated graphics here after the founding of Award Groups as there are at Flickr.

I set this to "private / only me" ; which prevents flashy graphics / awards appearing.

I do this because much of the time my internet connection is limited in speed / bandwidth.

I know this possibility and anyone who knows and wants it can use it as you rightly signal, Sara. However, it is questionable whether the opponents of Award Groups at that time knew this and who of the other members might know and use this opportunity - not only for their own protection and advantage. So ( not only ) in this respect, this setting option does not widely prevent the possible disregard of ipernity's group guidelines by one or the other founder and/or member of Award Groups, which in turn confronts us with the question of whether we want to be a copy of Flickr or not. But we already had this debate, so also I think it is a senseless waste of time and energy to have this discussion again.

True, Stefan, but Keith didn't claim that ipernity welcomed the founding of Award Groups at that time. For this reason, there can be no question of a lie here.

That's a great idea and a good written invitation, unfortunately I haven't used Yahoo in many years and I closed my Flickr account last year.

I have been a member of three different Yahoo Groups over a long period of time. These groups are quite different from Ipernity and may best be described as Forums which are used mainly for information exchange along with topical comment. Each group has a section where members may add photographs although I have found this option was not used very much at all on any of the groups.

The three groups were relative to specific bus and coach subjects. Of the groups themselves there was one which was very strongly supported with postings made almost daily. The group I followed mostly had seen a reduction of input to just two or three messages a week. The third one had dried up completely with no postings in months.

(Being a member of these groups does not mean I have an affinity with Yahoo, in fact I despise Yahoo. I had used them as a secondary email facility but have recently closed my account. One main reason is that I don't like their search engine format and my laptop main page kept being reset to Yahoo from Google).

David, then please just quickly - before the deadline - place the advertising text (from above) in these three groups. Even if the benefit is questionable. Just as I put it as a comment under the three publications quoted above.
It is not important that there is a direct reaction. What is important is that the word "ipernity" appears as often as possible in the most diverse places.

On the moment at least 58 people have seen at least the word "ipernity'.

As a result of this discussion I have set an example and deleted my Award Group Austria Top 100 now.

Too bad, Bernhard, because I think the first of the reasons you mentioned is understandable, although you seem to administer the group in twos. But it wouldn't have been necessary to close it because of the (renewed) discussion about Award Groups, which in my understanding was mainly about the rejection of the usual animated and/or all too intrusive graphics at Flickr. Wouldn't a reopening of the group be a conceivable option, at least from this point of view?

Apparently the groups "Austria Top 100" and "Austria" are not identical. The question of one of the group members concerning the change of the name of the group "Austria" confused me. :)
So please consider the note concerning the administration of the deleted group by two administrators as irrelevant.

Die Award-Diskussion war nur der letzte Auslöser. Die Gruppe "Austria Top 100" zu pflegen erforderte nämlich einen hohen manuellen Aufwand, den ich nicht mehr zu leisten imstande bin, weil mich andere, wichtigere Aufgaben bei ipernity zu 100% fordern. Vielleicht ergibt sich eines Tages die Möglichkeit, das Regelwerk für diese Gruppe zu verallgemeinersn und einzuprogrammieren. Ich habe es vorsichtshalber abgespeichert. Aber zur Zeit ist es besser, nicht über so was nachzudenken, sondern sich voll auf die wirklich wichtigen und dringenden Aufgaben zu konzentrieren.
