A remarkable old castle and a beautiful image, Rosa. I must admit I'd never previously heard of this castle.

Thank you George. We were staying in Shrewsbury and wanted to visit Ludlow and we saw this castle on the map. It was on a beautiful autumn day which helped with the pictures.

Two wonderful examples of the architecture of their different times Rosa. You have captured some fine detail and textures in this very nicely composed shot.

Indeed, Rosa. I know Ludlow - well I visited it for a few hours, even before it became something of an epicurean hotspot! Yes, a justly famous and beautiful town!

I've never heard of this place Rosa. From the thumbnail I certainly wasn't expecting an English castle!

Both the castle and gatehouse look to be in remarkably good condition, especially given their age and it's fascinating to see the architecture from two completely different centuries so close together.

Beautifully composed and taken..............as always the architectural detail you've captured is wonderful............gorgeous light and colours too.

It's on the English/Welsh borders Keith. It's not often that you see a complete and untouched castle. The gatehouse is really beautiful and the views from both are wonderful.

A very impressive fortified manor house the timber framed top of the tower looks like an extension, did it ever have a moat? what is the monument. Have you enjoyed the slightly cooler day, although it was humid, there were a few spots of rain about mid-day but not enough to dampen the slabs. i hope you have a pleasant evening Rosalyn

The monument is in the churchyard Peter. I don't remember what it was for. I might have a closer picture of it though. I think the top part was an addition at some point, but a long time ago.
I'm looking after my daughter's dog while they are on holiday and today was the first morning walk she has had since being here! Much cooler but quite close. Yes we had a quick shower. I hope there is more to come!

I think I remember this photo from Pan, Rosa. It is an amazing place, but I have only visited it in school holidays when it was crawling with tourists.

Yes it was on Piano Amelia. We were the only ones there for quite a while. The shop was good with two very nice ladies in there.

Its age can be seen in its many wrinkles. A venerable building and architecture which, indeed, seems to have retained their authenticity and must be captivating to visit.
