Stoke Trister ~ My Monday Walk.

Stoke Trister ~ My Monday Walk.
On past the church and down into the village of Stoke Trister, I passed this house with a small opening in the outside wall. I wonder if it was once a farmhouse and something was sold from there. Maybe milk, butter or cheese. I need to find out! The PiP is the white cottage you see in the main shot.

Thank you Andy. Yes an exercise walk each day but keeping to the sensible advice.
It must be very difficult for you over there. Take care and hopefully things will gradually get better.

I hope that you do manage to find out what the little door was for, I suspect that you are on the right track. It looks to be a steep hill.

The little door reminds me of what many pubs used to have!

It is bi-folding Peter, so maybe goods were left there with an honesty box.

What a lovely village. I like the little white thatched cottage and the curve on the downhill road with a glimpse of the countryside beyond. Hope you find out about the little door.

Thank you for your kind comments Jean. It's right on the county border, so all the views are of Dorset.

What a lovely village Rosa - it is very picturesque. I like the building with the thatched roof in the PiP. Maybe the little door was for deliveries in the days when milkmen, butchers and bakers made delivery rounds. Beautifully captured and the light is lovely.

Hi Rosa

A very nice picture, and a wonderful puzzle!!!

Being very curious, I found it on 'Streetview', and had a good look. Since there are no other shop like buildings there, I think you could be right!
Or maybe just an entrance to a store room...

Best Wishes, and stay safe!!

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your kind comments and interest. It's a very small village as you no doubt could see. I think it is for goods to be placed or left out for sale. It reminds me of pubs in the old days, when you could buy from something like this, if you were underage, or getting something for the parents! My dad never drank so I didn't get to use one :-))

Take care and have a good day,
Rosa.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
The lower one is bi-folding Jose. I think the top one probably opens inwards and the bottom one for customers. Often an honesty box was left for payment. Many years ago we sold eggs from the house and left them in the porch with an honesty box and it worked very well :-)
Take care & have a good day.

What a beautiful location Rosa..............the sort of place where you expect to walk round a corner and bump into Miss Marple :-)

I like the view down the hill to the cottages and beyond..........and the little yellow door makes for good foreground interest. I also like the close up view of the white cottage in the PiP.

It's all especially beautiful in the sunshine. Nice work!
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
Now Keith...is that a coincidence, or have you, like Miss Marple, been doing some detective work!? www.wincantonwindow.co.uk/the-bayford-book-launching-8th-september.htm

When I worked for the Brewery many years ago there was a Pub near Faversham in Kent which had something like this and it was used for Off sales.
or
It might be an ATM Rosalyn, since there is no where open to spend any money they boarded it up ! :-)) But it looks like you had an enjoyable walk.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to HappySnapper
Yes I remember that too Maurice. Ha ha...good point about the ATM's! I still have a £5 note in my purse from before the lockdown. I'll see how long I can keep it ;-)
