Colourful village Rosalyn, though I am not trusting enough to venture out to far, it's nice we have been given rein to do so. The statue in the PIP is a nice find, a local artist maybe.

The statue is from a local artist Maurice. I often sit on that bench. Bruton is only a few miles away from me, but I wouldn't travel further just yet. Best to be cautious.

It looks the sort of place where strangers are viewed with suspicion !! I wonder how many of the businesses will never open again. I'm not sure if the modern sculpture is right for somewhere that doesn't appear to have changed for years. I hope you are having a nice weekend Rosalyn

Ha ha, quite the opposite Peter. We can but hope many businesses will survive this period. Bruton is a very arty place with a Hauser & Wirth gallery complex, but I suppose art is always subjective and I am fond of the Man on Bench by the river.

Thank you Roger. There are many alleyways up to the town with houses like this along them. So much nicer than the modern estates on the edge of town. Bruton has retained much of its charm thankfully. Take care and have a good Sunday.

A delightful set of images Rosa.................you certainly live in a beautiful part of the country!

I really like all three of these..............I like the style and individuality of the shop fronts in the main image and it's really lovely to see them without traffic in the way. I especially like the colours of the double-fronted shop nearest the camera.

PiP1 shows off the colours and textures in the stonework and roof tiles beautifully and I love the statue on the bench in PiP2, especially the wreath of poppies in it's lap!

Thank you very much Keith. Bruton has a lot of nooks and crannies to investigate, so always good for a walk with the camera. My first away from my immediate surroundings, but it is just 5 miles away. I found I had walked enough...it's surprising how these operations take it out of you, which I'm sure you found as well.

Well there's one positive outcome of the coronavirus situation; one can visit beautiful towns and villages and find no-one else there. A lovely photo, Rosa. We haven't ventured into Shrewsbury since the lockdown. I think it will be too busy.

Yes one of the few positives Amelia. Last year we were talking to a couple who had seen the town on Escape to the Country and thought they would take a look!
I haven't been to any larger towns either. Think I will leave that for a bit longer.

It looks nice and fun, this pleasant street with colors and reflection, Rosa, wondering what can be found inside.

More or less deserted but what a beautiful village! The modern sculpture is a contrast but fits in. This would be a nice place for a rest with the proper distance guaranteed;-)
