All permits received -
To create loft-style apartments in this iconic old mill -
On a 6.8 acre tract of land -
This once was headquarters of the Oneida Cotton Mills -
The State of North Carolina and Federal Gov. had to see the original brick work -
To make available tax credits for historic redevelopment -
The developer had to show it is structurally sound -
It is to be designed to add 134 new residences to the area -

[ now to get my foot in the door for some photos! ]

They turned an old cotton gin in Colquitt into a Theater On The Round and have annual local performances.

Super ! I hate to see old buildings that can be put to good use -- demolished because some 'suit' says it is easier to build from the ground up [ which means tear the old down and get rid of any trees in the way -- we can plant more] .. just like they did at Southgate Publix ! Know you are probably the only person who knows what I'm talking about - but that is okay.....
Remember the really tall Palm trees there? I was told they would be replaced as they were old - and some clumsy person had taken the top off one "during construction" ... am sure you have seen the little, dinky things they put in and call 'trees' ..................
