Borage & Bees

Borage & Bees
These were taken in my next door neighbour's front garden yesterday afternoon. It wasn't the best time for close up photography as it was very windy, but using a ring-flash helped to freeze the action. Numbers of bee's are definitely down as winter approaches, but this Borage was very popular.

Much better viewed large, on black. Thanks for looking.

You did very well, all tack sharp and the "hairs" on the borage have a nice shine!

It's beautiful.....but my wife is allergic to the hairs, so we don't have any in our garden. That's why I had to go next door to take this :-)

Beautifully captured as always. Bees love borage and so do I. You can see from your shots why it is sometimes called starflower. The hairs look fantastic. Love the bee in flight bottom right.

Another nicely presented end of season shot Keith, just a few Roses, Fuchsia and Sunflowers left on our patch, the bees and butterflies seem to have done.

Wonderful detail in a superb trio of lovely images and I very much like the borage colour and shapes Keith, the cold weather over the past week has all but seen off any bees that were still in action over on this side of the country.,

Hi Keith
This is beautiful. Super crisp macros, and I can almost hear the bees foraging in the borage...
Have a good week

Such clean lines and crisp detail Keith! It's a lovely collage and the bottom bee picture is superb, almost 3D! What is a ring flash? Hope you have a good new week, whatever the weather brings :-)

Glad you like this one Rosa. A ring-flash is a circular flash that fits on to the front of the lens to use in close up shots. You can also get bigger ones that fit on the camera or a stand for portrait photography.

This is similar to the one I use ( except I have the Olympus version): www.amazon.co.uk/Yongnuo-YN-14EX-Macro-Flash-Cameras/dp/B00I3BQXG8/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2R0NS9PO18VCF&dchild=1&keywords=macro+ring+flash&qid=1601310306&s=electronics&sprefix=macro+ring+flash%2Celectronics%2C171&sr=1-4

A must in all my gardens! It often got infected by ants and blackfly but if you were lucky, it provided a super supply of drinks embellishments!

I'd love to have it in the garden Andy, but my wife is allergic to all the hairs, so we have to make do with looking next door!
