Thalassa (PiP) HFF!

Campbeltown captured from across the harbour at Low Askomill.

The beautiful three masted tall ship the Thalassa can be seen here and a closer shot is in the PiP.. Built in 1980 the Barquentine Thalassa is one of the most beautiful and fastest sea sailers of the Dutch fleet. Thalassa was built in 1980 in the traditional way and designed as a barquentine. Therefore, the foremast has a transverse rigging; the main mast and the mizzen mast have a longitudinal rigging.
She is 47m long and hen this was captured she had just finished a week long whisky tour, but she is also available for cruises and trips.

She does cruise and attend at other countries' sailing events like Kieler Woche, Hafengeburtstag Hamburg and Hanse Sail Rostock (Germany) which take place every year. Thalassa has made her appearance here for over 15 years. So there is your chance;-))))

" Thalassa " était le nom donné à une émission de grande audience à la télévision Française, produite et présentée par un journaliste nommé Georges Pernoud durant 37 ans de 1980 à 2017 ce moment hebdomadaire constituait en une série de documentaires sur la mer et les marins, voiliers et grands skippers, terres lointaines et populations autochtones, courses au large et challenges, bateaux futuristes et vieux gréements, et toute l'actualité maritime. Depuis le départ et la disparition de ce journaliste d'exception l'émission n'existe que de manière sporadique et est très éloignée du format d'origine.

Some years ago we went to Charlestown and went aboard one of the tall ships there which I really enjoyed. The ships were used in many films and series, and were refitted to suit whichever period the film was set in.
