I have passed this spot many times, Carol. I love the way you have composed the image in layers, The bench creates the ideal foreground interest. Thank you very much. From what I gather there are many more trees grown in Scotland than the rest of the UK, and there is an ongoing cycle of felling and replanting. If the timber is used in Scotland it saves importing it from Scandinavia, eg, therefore saving emissions and costs.

As I understand it the types of trees are carefully selected for replanting, and where possible they use trees native to Scotland, and many of the seeds come from around Inverness which limits the chances of disease., and many trees have been lost already in the past to disease.

I personally do not like to see the hills denuded of trees but realistically I understand the timber is needed and can only trust that more new trees are planted than old ones felled.

Ich denke, dass so die moderne Forstwirtschaft überall in Europa zumindest angestrebt wird aber es dauert halt viele Jahrzehnte bis Jahrhunderte, dass ein richtiger Wald wächst. Gut, dass es in Schottland so gemacht wird. Ich habe inzwischen mal etwas gegoogelt und in den vergangenen Jahrhunderten wurde in GB nicht gut mit dem Wald umgegangen und prozentual gibt's deshalb recht wenig auf der Insel. Es sind nur 10 % der Landfläche. In Schweden 75 %. Also fleißig weiter pflanzen!:)

Yes that point did concern me as well. It shows you need to read between the lines on some of the articles on the internet. Thank you for the information. I certainly hope they do!!!!
