Thank you very much Roland. I used to love to see the proper Highland cows on our trips to Scotland but strangely on the last couple of visits we have seen more alpacas than Highland cows!!

Thank you very much Pam.

They are adorable animals and strangely we have seen more alpacas on this visit to Scotland than we have Highland cows!!

I did not realise you have them over there as guardians of the cattle. It really surprised me as they seem such gentle animals.

I'd like to add that I'd highly recommend these cute alpacas as lawn-mowers. Away with conventional lawn-mowers, bring in the alpacas! ;-)

A lovely animal double portrait. Carol. I often see alpacas on the hillside, when I am travelling to Campbeltown. All the best, Joe.

Thank you very much Joe. Yes we also saw quite a number of them on this visit. Strangely we saw more alpacas than Highland cows which seems a little bizarre.

Even to this day, I can't persuade my parents that there is an alpaca farm over the hill from where they live. I first saw them in a field on a walk in about 2009 and didn't have a camera then. I haven't walked that way since then so I can't provide photographic evidence but I know the alpaca farm is still there! A fine shot and PiPs!"
Ecobird club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Thank you very much Andy. Yes they seem to be popular in a lot of places. It still feels a little surreal to me seeing so many of them in Scotland, - in fact we saw more alpacas than Highland cows!!! I am sure there was one fairly local to us that I remember seeing, on the Quantocks from memory, but that was a while ago so I don't know if it is still there.

Maybe when you come back you could make a little detour and get some photos to show your parents. Even if they don't need the evidence they will, I am sure, appreciate how cute they are!!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Ecobird club
I won't get that opportunity, Carol. When I'm there it's full on carer duties, my mum because she has rapidly worsening dementia and my Dad because he is totally immobile now. My sister says that in Spain they would both have long been institutionalised. The British way of keeping people in their homes as long as possible, is better imho.
Ecobird club has replied to Andy Rodker club
Oh Andy, I am so sorrry. I did not realise things were that bad. I know how heartbreaking dementia is as my dad had it, but having both parents to care for must be really difficult.
Yes it is good for them to be in ther own home as long as possible, but being able to share the care is important as you need to take care of yourself as well, especially as you have your own health issues. I hope you will be able to rest up a little now knowing your sister is there to look after your parents Thinking of you
