Thank you very much Ronald. Really appreciated. This was the home of the MacDonalds of Sleat, but it was abandoned around 1732. Local legend has it that the baby son of the chieftain at the time fell from the castle to his death on the rocks below. When his son died Alexander built a new home using building materials from the castle. He was also said to have set the nursemaid adrift in a small boat as a punishment

It is a beautiful area, but if the local legends are true the castle had a sad history with the clan chief of the MacDonalds losing his infant son when he fell from the castle on to the rocks. He punished the nursemadi who was supposed to be looking after the child by casting her adrift in a small boat. He abandoned the castle, building another house using building materials from the castle. HFF and have a good weekend

It is sad to see it in such a state Although it was built a long time ago it would appear that some of the materials were used to build a new home for the clan chief who lived here. His small son had died in an accident after falling from the castle walls. I guess this would be one of the reasons it is in this condition. Thank you very much and have a lovely Sunday.

Yes there are a lot of ruined castles in Scotland and I think they add to the appeal. Along with the wonderfully wild and beautiful scenery you can easily see why people are intoxicated by the magic and romance of a country steeped in history and legend.
