Highland desert Sprengisandur

On Highland route F26, Sprengisandsleið, at 783m a.s.l., looking east towards Vatnajökull and Bárðarbunga.
Sprengisandur is the highest part of this ancient highland crossing and was much feared because it's exposed to the elements and has no water and grass for the horses. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprengisandur

Schönen Dank, Gisela! Wir kame diesmal erstaunlich gut durch, weil die Furten alle wenig Wasser hatten, obwohl im Süden auch der Regen kam. Die Piste war diesmal in besserem Zustand als bei unserer ersten Fahrt 2014, da war übelstes Waschbrett und viel Wasser.

Thank you so much, Isabel! We were 19 people plus guide and driver but it never felt that much because on walks you could go your own tempo. Our bus was a narrow regular bus adapted for highland routes.
