Y is for Yummy Yellow

I would like to present the FIRST FLOWERS of my RAISED BED GARDEN!!! These flowers are very special to me, because I raised them from seeds that were sent to me by my friend Pam J after I told her how much I loved them. We ended up trading several types of seeds, and though I didn't have luck with some of them, these sprouted and so did bunches of Maximillian Sunflowers, which are currently growing larger every day. These flowers are called "False Sunflowers", and grow wild in the Midwest. I love them so much, thank you Pam!

False Sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides) Aster family (Asteraceae)

(Forget the Illinois bit... they also grow wild in OK and Kansas etc)

Flowers that has a story, I like it =) My mother has a huge garden, full of stories. I remember when I was 13 and had a bicycle trip with my mother. During that trip she brought one plant from the other side of the country in her saddle bag and she still has it growing in her garden! And that was not the only time she imported plants like this.

I read somewhere that psychologically, yellow is the happiest colour in the spectrum.........which explains why I like this photo so much :)

I also find personally that yellow can be a difficult colour to expose well.............you obviously don't have that problem...........this is just spot on!!

Such gorgeous tones, textures and detail all perfectly composed and exposed on a super green background..........perfection!!
