Mohn sieht man hierzulande wieder oft, jeder fünfte Bauer ist schon Biobauer. Für mich der schon fast 30 Jahre Biobauer ist, stellt der Mohn in manchen Jahren eine starke finanzielle Belastung dar. Das ihn alle schön finden nützt mir da wenig, da nur jeder zehnte bereit ist, unsere Bioprodukte zu kaufen.

This is why the old poppy fields disappeared for about 8 years. Now that one farmer has decided that ostriches were more profitble, his grain fields were left to do their own thing!

Also hier sind sie nicht verschwunden. Was ich sagen will ist, wenn die Menschen Mohn in Feldern wollen, müssen sie einfach nur ordentlich ökologisch erzeugte Produkte kaufen. Wir werde werden uns nicht alle von Straußenfleisch ernähren können und wir werden hungern, wenn wir unsere Felder sich selbst überlassen.

I've been making these points every time I show a field without poppies where there were once many! You can't eat poppies and I understand the field is wasted for food production. I've understood this for a long time, Jens and so am in complete agreement. Anyway it's only one farmer among many. ALL the others have got rid of their poppies.

This is a stunning photo - I just love to see poppies in the field like this - they're so vivid and so beautiful. I see there are other little flowers being allowed to grow freely in the field too. I have read Jens' comment and I also agree with him - instead of getting rid of all poppies, why can't they leave a large-ish area on the edge of a field for the poppies, whilst they sow crops in the rest of the field. That way - everyone should be happy!!
