Update on the stadium. HANWE Everyone!

Update on the stadium. HANWE Everyone!
I've missed a lot and I don't think I like it much compared to the old iconic stadium! I'll probably post one more when completed and leave it at that!

I'm agreeing with you here - this doesn't look very attractive nor does it look very memorable. I wish you have a great weekend. I assume it's warmer over there, although we did have temps up to 21C and clear blue skies these last couple of days.

It's very stormy and dark and cold, Jenny; much colder than England. Normally people have put away their winter clothes by now and I would be changing my lillywhite English legs for something more summery. But it ain't shorts or t-shirt weather yet and the forcast is for two more weeks of the.same. Still, the rain is needed!

Outstanding construction capture! I feel you. I don't care much for the new Yankee Stadium in New York that replaced the iconic "House Ruth had built" that was steeped in history, tradition and championship moments.

Probably not, William. I love most sports, and especially the history and romance with each one. Therefore I'm not going to be too gung-ho about these modern money-orientated ego-boosters!

Yes, it looks very sterile. It's an interesting shot all the same.

Well captured Andy. I'm not sure what I think of it. It will be interesting to see your picture of it finished.

A nicely composed and detailed shot Andy............but I think it looks more like a huge upturned boat than a stadium.

In its defense, Keith (although i'm in no way its apologist!), it's not finished. They haven't completed the bottom bit nor the retractable roof. Sometime next year apparently.

No doubt you'll eventually post an image of the final result Andy.........so I shall reserve any further judgement until then.

I don't know why I'm bothered to be honest.............I hate football :-)))

Along with thousands of others I hated the thought of Highbury going and in some ways still miss it, but the Emirates is much more user friendly, no more blind spots etc. and the pitch is superb.
I have an 2005 photo of me in front of the Real Madrid stadium (I was at a conference but we had a whole afternoon to explore - one quick trip on the open top bus and than I had to go find the Bernabéu!)

Despite my aversion to much modern architecture I rather like the look of the outside of the new one - or perhaps it's just your superb photographic skills!

I used to teach English at Real Madrid - in the bowels of the old stadium. And I've done the Real Madrid tour of the stadium a couple of times and I have also been to many games, both football and basketball. The reason? My girlfriend's sister is married to a famous ex Real Madrid basketball player and we get VIP tickets from time to time! Can't be bad!
As for Highbury, I quite liked it and used to visit every time Leeds Utd played there in the early 70s. The reason? I was schoolmates with Peter Lorimer's cousin and occasionally some of he got us free tickets! We always lost as I recall and Ray Kennedy always scored the winner, as I recall but my memory could well be faulty. Not been to the new stadium, but then I've not been to an English football stadium in at least 30 years!

I think it's essentially functional. No artistic research... But the main thing is to win! ;)

Understood, Eric and I'm sure it has many amazing new delights to offer the gullible (sorry, paying) public!

Thank you Gabi. I followed its progress almost daily as I lived 15 minutes walk away until late 2020. Now I pass this way once every six months or less. We'll see how it finishes. Many thanks!
