H. A. N. W. E. everbody!

H. A. N. W. E. everbody!
A path near my new home. The path is incredibly steep (to give you an idea, look at how close the two lamp posts are in relation to each other). The steepest section is just out of sight, after the top four shallow steps. I don't dare use it in the wet or, even worse, in ice! (Railings not provided!).
The murk is not just twilight but in addition the sand cloud we get from the Sahara from time to time. The mountains should be visible on the horizon but they aren't due to the 'Calima' or sand cloud. You can actually taste the sand on your tongue!

I take the zig-zag road if I have a heavy trolley of shopping, and that's steep enough! If loaded in the other sense, I have the wisdom not to leave the house!!! :o)

Lovely half light and a great feeling of distance. I wouldn't be happy either with those steps in rain or ice.

They look frighteningly steep even from the bottom, Jean and I'm not someone scared of heights. But climbing in my younger days gave me an acute appreciation of risk and I would personally campaign for a railing to be constructed, at the very least!!

A bit steep (that you should be used to coming from Cornwall) but it looks like a great bit of the country. Shame about sand storms etc. Ah well we can't have everything you know.

Keep safe. Herb

Thanks Herb. It's precisely because I have a deep affinity with heights and steep cliffs that I recognise danger when I see it!

Tasting sand doesn't sound very pleasant Andy, but it's a very good picture. I see how steep it must be with your description. Definitely needs a hand rail or two!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne club
No, it's not at all pleasant!!
Thank you, Rosa!
I didn't have a trolley with shopping today and it was dry so I used it but for someone without my head for heights it would be far too terryfing to attempt. I forgot to take a shot from the bottom looking up. Oh well, next time!!!

As to renewing, it's mainly the matter of finances. We are on a very limited income and will have to take stock around renewal time and see if we can afford it.

Andy Rodker club has replied to RHH
That I completely understand, Ron. You are not alone!! I do the same every time my renewal comes.up. Fortunately so far ...
But it's not a forgone decision!!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Eva Lewitus club
I haven't done enough walking since my back went 5-6 months ago, Eva. Now, after my back operation last week, I hope to gradually get back into it and one day resume walking in the mountains!
Sand tastes quite unpleasant!!!
Thank you, Eva!

I wouldn't waste your time campaigning for for hand rails Andy................I"d insist on a stair-lift..!!

A lovely low-light image, with warm colours and a beautiful hazy view into the distance. Well taken..!!

Thanks Keith, pleased you like it!
Where we live was a private estate 25 years ago and the householders contributed to road maintenance. Since then it's been the Council's responsibility but they haven't spent a single peseta or euro on the roads here and so they are a disgrace. There certainly isn't any money for railings, let alone a stair-lift! And now with Covid, even less!

As it is near your new home, I hope you will take more pictures of the area for us to see the mountains in the background. It does look very steep indeed and certainly not something I could manage.
Andy Rodker club has replied to Jenny McIntyre club
It's been frustrating, Jenny as cloud, fog and now this sandy dust storm have limited the opportunities for an interesting shot or two. Even with the odd day of clear blue skies, it needs some cloud element to add photographic interest. But I'm patient ...!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Misou 49 club
Thank you, Misou. My French is too rusty to reply in your tongue even though I understand nearly all on paper! The 'calima' has lasted 4-5 days already and is depressing! It's not as bad as for my niece, who is a doctor on Lanzarote in the Canaries where they get two or three of these sand clouds every year!!

Just read in the Finnish YLE news that the Calima is on it's way to north, and may reach even Finland. Most of the sand dust of course drops donw on the middle Europe.

I went down and up it today, and with heavy shopping on the way back up! Not so bad in the dry! But it's 200 steps which some might balk at!
