Spookily quiet! Paseo de La Castellana - no traffic and no people - weird!

It doesn't seem to be a Covid thing. On some Sundays sections of this north-south main Madrid axis are closed. I presume for demonstrations or just for the public to enjoy on foot, on bikes, on scooters, roller skates, etc. But honestly I don't know why! However, today it was blocked off along very long sections and there was absolutely no-one around. It's like seeing Oxford Street or the Champs Elysées on a Sunday afternoon without a soul. Unthinkable! And I'm still puzzled! If Prez T was paying a visit to Madrid I could understand it; no crowds would show so no security would be required!

Exactly! I have absolutely no idea, Nick. It's like something out of the beginning of the Day of the Triffids!

It may not have been closed just to give you a photo opportunity but taking your chance to stand in the middle must have been great.

Without that perspective, it would have been an even more negligable shot, José Manuel!

It's a lovely feeling of space. I believe the Champs Elysees is closed the traffic on some Sundays now for people to enjoy. I remember it on Bastille Day with dance floors set up in the middle of the road for people to celebrate.

I love to see shots like this when normally busy and chaotic cities are deserted.

This one is a fantastic example. I love your composition with very convenient leading lines paited on the road for you.............the buildings in the distance look really impressive in the sunlight!

A great opportunity well grasped..!!

Quite a remarkable scene. Whatever the reason, at least it became safe for you to take this image from the centreline.

LOL at the Mr T's remark!! It does look lovely and quiet, but soon it'll be as before. I understand that Spain is opening up the country to visitors. I think I just might wait until next year before I do any travelling.

Me too, Jenny! As I'm in three high risk groups, travelling by train or plane would be madness! Although at least it would be possible in a short window before the expected second lockdown in a few months. Gawd!! I sincerely hope not!

Mainly (but not 100%) it's the young who have suffered 3 months of lockdown. To you and me that is like a week and a half, but to them it is like 3 whole f.....g years, Cheers, Fred!
