Sierra de La Cabrera granite.

Sierra de La Cabrera granite.
I once knew the name of this hand-shaped rock. Alas Google swallowed my notes as well as photos when it murdered Pano!
The craggy granite peaks behind is Cancho de La Bola, home of vultures. I had been up there only 40 minutes before.

Gotcha'... Andy.. so I guess the well worn 'hand shape' will be of a softer material than the distant granite... quite amazing erosion really. Keep well.. youth.

It's all granite and I reckon this 'hand' was made up of harder granite as it is still there! And you may be right about the distant granite ... harder still!

Yes that rock really does look like a hand doesn't it? The way it's eroded it looks as if water might have had something to do with the shape eroded.

Thank you Jenny. Water, wind, ice in the ice age, etc etc!

What an amazing shape the foreground rock is and how well you have captured its texture.

Ha ha ha, Maggie (although it wasn't funny back in 86 and for a long time after!)

A remarkable contrast between the two rock formations - it's difficult to believe they're both made of granite!

Well composed and taken Andy.

Well they are; I think the foreground boulder may be a different type of granite but I can't be sure.
Thank you, Keith!
