Where I used to stay in the summer as a teenager. I was very fortunate with my school French exchange partner!!! This was his family's summer holiday home here in Provence. (We are still in contact!). Look on the satellite map for an idea of its size

Oh how wonderful, Andy - and to think you are still in contact with him - fantastic. I swapped homes with my French exchange student, and she lived in a small village next to the River Lot, in the region of Lot. Her parents were lovely to me, but her home wasn't as gorgeous as this.

I was very lucky and I knew it aged 13 in 1971, Jenny when I first saw it.
It was wonderful!
Out of shot is a waterfall and the small pool at its foot. Ideal for a swim in the heat of the Provençal summer!

Ha!
Thank you Frans, but no. That was in the Bordeaux region some years later!! (1979)
And the hat was a Leeds United hat. They were a great team in the 60s and 70s and the team I support in England. In Spain I have to support Real Madrid (strong associations with my girlfriend's family on the basketball side).

Brilliant !.. Andy.. what a marvellous place to visit.. I took a look on G/E and I see more of your photo's.. and the 'street view' camera came right up to the nearby bridge over the river... 'Pont sur le Toulourenc' the whole region appears most beautiful... as you say - you were 'very fortunate'
