Yup. me (on the right).
A very cold walk. This is somewhere between Tryfan and Glyder Fach, not far from the Bristly Ridge. Snowdonia, Wales.Old friends from uni. A shot from 1979, 1980 or 1981.

Colin Ashcroft, , ROL/Photo, Isisbridge and 28 other people have particularly liked this photo

I don´t know what I wrote on Pano Andy but I remember that shot ;)
In german we say "nur die Harten kommen in den Garten".....hope
you find out what I mean ;)))
Have a nice sunday evening...summer is back in town here ;)

Andy Rodker club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew club
Hi Tanja, I replied too soon, before your comment came through!
Sadly, we can't look on Pano to see what you wrote! And sadly my German isn't good enough to translate - something about the heart not coming into the garden - sorry - please translate! The translation service here won't do it if there are already two languages in a comment. The poor thing gets very confused!!! :o)
Here it has been horribly sticky - humid - the whole of Madrid is waiting desperately for the promised storm to come and break the dreary, stifling, sultry, very hot and unseasonal weather!
Have a good week!

Heya Andy...I´m glad to live in the country those days. You know, I like the british summer but may in germany is one of the most beautiful months..not to hot and everythings green!
"Nur die Harten kommen in den Garten" means something like "only the brave get into the garden". If someone´s complaining about bad weather or wearing the wrong clothes outside, we pat on his shoulder an say "nur die Harten kommen in´n Garten". That´s no offence..just a little joke ;)
Have a good week and I hope you will be saved from this horrible weather!

Tanja ;)

Andy Rodker club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew club
Yes, I get it now! Thanks Tanja.
Forecast heavy rain but it still hasn't broken; still stuffy and hot, even at this time of morning! We're used to heat here in Madrid but not humidity! We associate THAT kind of unpleasantness with Barcelona!
Have a good week.
best wishes,
Andy

And I'm not kidding at all!

No heroes here, Bea! (Apart from the gentleman sitting at the top - a professor from Hungary and a 'character' with a fascinating life experience in WW II and after which I didn't know about until I read his obituary in The Times in 2008. I wish I had known much earlier - I would have loved to have talked to him!)

Hi Andy

Thank you for sharing this!
Maybe you could attach your gloves to your jacket with a short bit of string (or ribbon), then you would never forget them or loose them!!
These mountains can be dangerous, especially in winter!

Best Wishes
Peter

We used to come here a lot and always had some among us who were experienced and knew what they were doing. But you are quite right!

Cold hands or cold lugs: it's a bitter choice. But you got a wonderfully dramatic shot out of it.

I like these old style pictures. In fact it's not a style, they are old and charming...
This one reminds me the polaroids shot with a Landcamera SX 70 (I still use mine...)

Thank you, Andrea! I was struck by the colour of the clothing! I don't recall those days as being so colourful! After all, colour TV only came into Britain 10 years before this! I was still using a black and white TV well into the 90s!

this is a great photo and what a no gloves day! I have some photos from 1960s on top of mountains in terrible weather and the bright colours are a feature. I’ll post an example :-)

Thanks, Colin! Yes I seem to think that outdoor / mountain clothing was brighter on the old days!
