I watched maybe 10 minutes of one of the original 70s episodes and nothing since! I did read a Poldark book once though when it was a very wet day and there was nothing else to do! I can't remember a thing about it!

It's the rather obvious hole in the roof to which I was referring, Diane! But you could put up an umbrella indoors (my Spanish friends would recoil in horror: it's extremely bad luck to unfurl a brolly before you are actually outside!)

Oh, yes, my Italian ex-in-laws had all those superstitions. Putting your hat on a bed was a cause for shrieks and other expressions of fear.
