Red fire-escape fence

Red fire-escape fence
These scenes are getting much rarer than they once where over here in England, as more and more of these old brick mills are demolished or ironically, destroyed by fire. Not far from my home, this makes for a rather unusual neck-aching view where for a moment you don’t know if you are going up or down. Of course the solid red rails (or fences) are meant to keep you safe in the event of an emergency exodus here.
Enjoy full size on black. PiPs.
HFF, have a great weekend.

Glad you liked it Dave. Aye, you will know how to use these well. I bet you got some un-nerving memories of such things but I reckon they have saved countless lives over the many years across our country. Weather on the change here -Winter again soon maybe. Notice that this photo is the fifth Ipernity posted shot of that fabulous morning -so far.

The red of the brick and fire escape together with PoV and the shadow make a very striking photo! I always feel reassured by fire escapes but hope that I never have to use one;-) HFF, Herb!

A great composition, I'm pleased my camera has a flick out screen !!!! fire was a huge worry in the old mills because of all the lint, the escapes were of course used for an 'illegal' smoke.
I hope you have a HFF and a good weekend Herb
5 years ago.
Herb Riddle club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thanks Peter, of course I know what you are talking about here. I worked for a short time in a converted cotton mill and the workers often found their way to the fire-escapes for a quick drag. The flick out LED screen are, as you say, a boon for such scenes as this.

I doubt if many mills are doing the job for which they were built for, these days. HFF Herb!
Herb Riddle club has replied to Tractacus club
Very few indeed Neil. We still have a few of these in and around Oldham which was once called the King-of-cotton town. I think even one or two are still doing linen of one sort or the other but most are, as you say, converted to apartments/stores/wharehouses/garages/art studios etc
This one here is an electronics work place.

A well thought out, if uncomfortable looking, perspective Herb. I took a few moments to get my head around what I was looking at..........I should have read the title first :-)

I really like the red colours of the brickwork and the fire escape - perfect pairing. It all looks quite striking under the blue sky.

I like your clever use of selective colour in the second Pip. The B/W image in the first PiP is a corker of a shot.

HFF my friend and have a great weekend.

What a good point of view at the main picture. At the colour-key one I like the flower pot on the stairs - for sure not conform with safety rules. ;-)
And the shadow on the nearby one, does a great eye irritation job.

Very belated HFF and a wonderful Sunday.

Last but not least: how do you get those written information ("Nearby" & "Manchester" in that case) added to the PiPs???
Herb Riddle club has replied to Leon_Vienna club
Nice to see you again Leon. Good that you have studied all three of these. As you say about the flower pot - not quite conforming to 'health & safety' rules. Good that you have enjoyed them nevertheless.
The wording on the PiPs is easy but a little unconventional at first. I had trouble too at first. Simply add your note from the Actions box and within the new Pip box type your word(s). The important thing is not to have more than a couple of words -preferably only one, then (this is important), paste your HTML code right next to the word. DO NOT leave any space(s) between. -I have tried different combinations, but this seems to be the best. Now it is also possible to add your wording, AFTER the HTML code, and in this case a full new sentence of many words can be added AND it does not seem to matter how much space is between the HTML code and your new wording. Strange!

Hope this helps. Belated HFF, Herb

Thank you a lot Herb, well described and at least I got it, as far it depends on the language. Will try it the next time.

Thanks Susanne. Both the Pips were used as HFF entries too but some time back. They can both be looked at big and commented on by simply clicking in the middle of the PiP picture. I enjoyed doing these and might find new variants for another HFF (Happy Fence Friday) yet to come :) Glad you enjoyed them

Bea- your comments, no matter if late, are always more than welcome. This was taken during the same walk of beautiful hoarfrost and light snow scenes that I have also posted here. When I went pass here, the lighting was perfect for this kind of scene and I immediately thought of another fence shot for the HFF group/ Very happy that you enjoyed it.
