These shot where taken last night after a few night trying to find the Octans to no avail . you can see them in a shot but are not visible to the eye. I set up south plus magnetic deviation and set latitude. This is made up of 60 of the total 130 i took. shot ISO 5000 20 sec F4.5 with a 3 second shutter delay 160mm 70-200mm F4. this is stacked in Deep Sky Stacker with the back shots of 200 dark frames , 200 light Frames and 200 Bias frames.

As I am a true beginner here I have tried to edit to what I saw on the net as I have no idea at all. A night and a days work . Enjoy a true Southern view.

Post Script

This is a new shot I chose not to add but to replace . This is all 130 images Stacked In Sequator once I learned how to set it up a far cry from what Deep Sky Stacker could do. I feel a little happier I can get the shots I want .

Thank yo Ko I have tried to find Octans but have given up like every body else unless you are computer guided which I am not. This was a shot you asked for took a while but you have a result. must confess editing these photos is not easy at all you cant see them other than on the net.

The shot looks quite amazing on my screen as a back ground. the larger of the two white clouds in the bow shot. At least this night taught me a lot very quickly. hope to be able to bring you some more later when I try the 150-600mm out in earnest.

Splendid image Steve. As said before and echoed by Gudrun here, your time studying how to take and edir such scenes is well rewarded here. Looks great full screen on black. My PC desktop image as well.

Cheers, Herb

The stacked image has a more 3D look about it there is depth to the shot just not present in the single shot. despite all the fails its truly worth it to see these shots in real life on the computer and the satisfaction it is. I look forward to some more now I know what to do. just have to wait for no moon. I know not of interest to many people but to a few some thing they even understand. many thanks for your encouragement when things go wrong it always nice to get some thing right as you learn.
