  • Jens Soering Day

On August 25 this year, I watched a TV documentary on a fate so grim, it makes my own struggles appear as insignificant as a broken shoestring: The conviction of Jens Soering to a double life sentence for murder in the first degree - a crime, he never committed. From reading into the facts all day long today, facts on this incomprehensibly cruel account of events and their ungraspable outcome - and I'm not talking about the crime scene, which can only be described as a slaying spree -, the a…

A classic . The epitome of romance. To me - better than the old black and white classics , starring Bergman and Bogart. Go see it (Havana! Not Casablanca, of course...) - period. Over 'n out.

  • I give in

OK, I'll give in: I'll be a working week slut, just like everybody else. The system has won, I'll abide and quit thinking, I'm special in any way. I'll punch the work hours Monday thru Friday, and run my errands from 7 thru 8, wash my car on weekends, pay my bills and taxes and butter up my ass Sunday night, so being taken advantage of won't hurt as much come Monday. Once I've adjusted to the routine, I'll be thinking of playing some well-payin' music on the weekends, so I can afford to go water…

  • Dating sucks

Did I mention that I hate dating? You have to act like a fool, go out of your way only to impress with the very dim hope of landing some romance, not to mention "action". I hate it, from the bottom of my heart. It makes me feel cheap, helpless, dumb and much more like a loser than I already feel. Who invented that crap? Who wrote the rules to that no-fun game? Why is it that men have to take the initiative and "woo" a woman? I have now decided that I will boycot dating from now on. If I shoul…

  • Rich, famous and on TV/in the News

OK, I admit it: This is a highly manipulative headline - one that I would believe works similar to how most headlines of today's media work: You suggest one thing of common and high interest, while the rest of the story talks about something entirely different. Did it work? ;-) Now, on to the real content: My mother just called, letting me know that by perusing the local newspaper this morning she uttered a high-pitched shriek when coming across this image . It depicts my dad back in 1965, whe…

  • Free Speech not suitable? Jens Soering Update II

I can't think right now from sheer shock, so I will just give you the facts: Today, I have a message (in German) in my inbox from a person, who claims to coordinate translations from English to German on Jens Soering's website. In that message, she asks me to remove the link to the petition form at VA-Governor Kaine's website, as Jens' lawyers, her and other close friends of Jens' find it detrimental to his cause that opponing views have been expressed here and over there . The last thing…

  • The Driving Experience

I have to hand it to you (whether you needed me to share this or not): I love driving, especially since I got the MINI Cooper. It's no less than the ideal car for me. But again, I'm digressing... (and you thought, I'd make for a good writer, Sherry, Sara? I will have to learn how to focus first... LOL). Anway, let's just consider this a fact for now (my love for driving). HOWEVER - I only like it so long as nobody gets in my way... And driving in Germany means: EVERBODY gets in your way! An…

  • I CAN'T TAKE IIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT!!!!

This is a nightmare: I was ON THE LAKE on Wednesday last week at 20° Celsius. Over the next two days, temperatures dropped to almost zero and there WAS FUCKING SNOW on Friday! No time to get accustomed to cold weather, no transition into winter, just as if somebody had flipped a switch and "ordered" winter altogether. I HATE IT! Not winter per se, don't get me wrong. There'll be skiing and skating and walks under bright blue, cracking cold skies and through stacks of fresh snow. That can be beau…

  • Don't try this at home...

Here's just a short apology for presently not being very active in my network. Under my doctors' supervision (oh well, there'll be another post on that part, later...) I have been experimenting with new medication, which - seems to have sent me straight into a very uncomfortable condition . I'm exhausted, disoriented, anxiety-struck and tired beyond belief. Hence, forgive me for stopping to write right here and going back to half-delirium... P.S.: The title is a sarcastic allusion to the idea…

  • Wanna see the future?

No, hell no! Cuz if I did, this sure as heck wouldn't have happened: Went to another of a gazillion doctors' appointments I'm having as of late. She's a gastro-enterologist and apparently top-notch in her field. And actually quite attractive, too. With good taste for interior design and in a chique downtown Munich location (a quiet street in Nymphenburg). My regular lady doctor from Herrsching sent me to see her on behalf of my long history of gastro-enterologic problems and diseases I've…

  • Pain and Progress

I am presently undergoing a series of medical tests again to make sure of or rule out intolerances to certain nutritional substances. Particularly, I'm being tested on lactulosis-, fructose- and lactose-intolerance, starting with lactulosis today. In order for the test to produce some valuable results you have to show up fasting, meaning having not eaten after 6pm the day before until the test and after - that makes 18 hours without food or drink, only decarbonized water is allowed. The tes…

... to my list of all-time-favourite movies: The War . The title may be misleading and is a bit of a poor choice for it. But it's the fiercest 120-minute emotional roller-coaster I've been through on silver screen. Starts out light-heartedly with lots of good dialogue, hilarious moments, funny little episodes, and gets more and more serious, but still warming your heart and leaving you glued to the screen. Stock up on tissues, I'll guarantee your faces being drenched by the end. A total treat!

  • The Shocking Result of my Research: Chronic Condition a Fact

OK, things really do come full circle now: I have recently had another - presumably final - series of physical tests and lab reports as to a chronic condition I have been suffering from for the entire length of my life so far. It's a fact: My pancreas is the root of all "evil" in terms of maldigestion and all the embarrassing symptoms accompanying that condition. We don't know, whether it's genetic or the result of a previous severe disease or operation, but I'm a results-oriented person, so tha…

  • New Ass-Parking Item

I am a writing professional. Hence, I spend considerable amounts of time in a seated position behind my computer screen. For the longest time, I have been looking for an ergonomically designed and comfortable office chair. While this may sound fairly straight-forward and not too hard to achieve, I have had to learn the do's and dont's with that particular peace of furniture. For example: You don't want arm-rests, if they keep you from moving close enough to the table in order to reach for your k…

  • Cinema at its Best!

No bragging, either, but it was another marvellous autumn day. Running errands after a short night (the latter getting me to my physical limits...) and then off to the lake to do another two or three laps. The water surface was like a mirror, so it couldn't have been any better. But I'm digressing. After having enjoyed the open water, the sun, the company on the platform and the mere fact that I can go there and enjoy myself almost WHENever I can (really, I just mean to be grateful, not a sho…

  • The Manifesto

People take advantage. That's a fact. They try to take advantage of you, whereever they can. You have a pleasant conversation one minute - be assured, a wish or demand is gonna follow on its footstep. So, from now on, I solemnly declare: I will never, ever again, do anything for anyone unless they pay me. The currency doesn't necessarily have to be money. But something has to come in return - whatever that particular person can spare. I've been taken advantage of just one time too many now…

  • Freezing cold!

My god, what's going on? Somebody must have flipped the switch from summer to fall in less than a week... It was in the upper 60ies, lower 70ies last week, and now I'm sitting in my flat with a hot cup of tea and dressed in a pullover, the heating is on and it's a mere 46 F outside... No! Too early! Gimme some sun and heat back!

  • Liberian Girl

Well, the headline is only there for rhethorical reasons and to allude to Michael Jackson's Song of his late 80ies' Album Bad , where he ingeniously serenades a girl from Africa. I might have been in a similar mood at the end of last night, when running into her: Early 20ies, lots of charisma for her early age, shiny teeth, killer - I mean KILLER - body, the fine shape of which was even visible through her linnen dress, long story short: I was bedazzled! And those, who have known me, also kno…

  • There is no such thing like coincidence...

It's really amazing, amusing, a tad scary and wondrous - all at the same time: Here I am, facing one of the darkest times of my life ever. Literally everything I have been working towards over my past 15-20 years in terms of a professional life is gradually, but rapidly falling apart. My tax declaration for 2006 almost has me go bankrupt and there will be just a tiny, tiny portion of money left to avoid getting evicted from my home. The new contacts I have been working on, seem to function, but…
