SF Castro Harry Hay plaque (1225)
Harry Hay, one of the people in the gay movement that very few contemporary gays know about, and thankfully one who very early recognized the key political problem of whether to focus on 'acceptance' and thus assimilation into mainstream culture, or to focus on the right to live a different type of life without interference. (See also nearby note on the missing 'foot soldiers' of the movement in the plaques.)
