The overhead electrical wires are specific to the image I have in my head of San Francisco. The only other place I can remember them being this prominent is Vancouver.

I find it interesting the way that the first sign of significant gentrification I notice in fast-changing Chicago neighborhoods is usually a Bank of America in a building that almost always looks exactly like this. I guess that's true in a lot of places.

Just to make sure everyone knows -- those are trolley lines for the electric buses.

If my memory is correct, when the neighborhood was working-class Irish, this was another bank and B of A had a different and more prominent building in the Castro area. With the changes of 70's, there was a point for many years where the Castro had no major bank chain. But, once the Castro gentrified, B of A moved back and took over this building.
