SF Castro multiple points (1231)

The classic Castro Theater marque, but far more....

What first caught my eye is that there is a forum (inforum?) by Jared Diamond in the Castro. That seemed startling since Diamond is known for his critical analysis of the complex processes that result in the growth and downfall of societies. The title 'guns, gems, & steel' makes it sound interesting. Not the usual movie fare for the Castro.

Second, though, in this picture is the sidewalk. The driving lanes were narrowed and the sidewalks widened, giving the Castro a much more comfortable sense as a place to stroll and hang out; more on that in later photos.
