THEY DON'T BUILD LIKE THIS ANYMORE! The Rohan Castle in Pontivy was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. With its thick walls, wide moats and massive towers protruding from the curtain walls, it bears witness to a style of military architecture that, at the end of the 15th century, attempted to adapt to the development of artillery. Over the centuries, changes were made. The 18th century was the most significant period, when the castle was transformed from a defensive structure into a purely residential building.
