Golf at Braemar

Golf at Braemar
Besides having some wonderful walks, the village of Braemar has a fine golf course, not that I had a chance to play. The river is the beautiful Clunie Water and we are taking the Queen Drive walk from here.
"Braemar Golf Club is the highest 18 hole course in Scotland at around 1,205 feet above sea level and sits in the heart of the Cairngorms national park The greens are among the finest in the area and the course is very popular with holiday makers and golfing societies. The course is relatively short, measuring 4,935 yards off the medal tees, but will test golfers of any standard."

I’ve never been much of a golfer but Dad (who had the talent but never devoted time to Golf) and I had a round here a wonderful setting. Thanks for the memory.

Lucky you Colin. It looked like a fine course among the heather and ripple of the river. There were at least two other golf courses not far from here. A grand place for sure and I am please that I have rekindled memories for you.

What a lovely place. If I would play golf I am sure I would love to walk around the course there!

Good that you enjoyed this Eva. Since I was brought up at the edge of a big golf course, I did learn, in a fashion, how to play and had a few games with friends. Once those friends gave up golf, so did I, as it was an expensive luxury I could ill afford. I still have those clubs I bought, in my attic now. Seeing courses like this makes me pine to play on them, besides just to stroll over them too.

I've never played golf, but I recognise a beautiful landscape when I see it, even if part of it is man-made. This one seems to blend in with the original landscape perfectly.

It looks wonderful in the sunshine.................a "hole in one" of a shot Herb! It's your round in the clubhouse :-))

Thanks Keith. As said above to Eva, I did learn to play, in my late teens but not since -or only pitch and putt with my grandchildren. A fabulous course here and as you say, at one with nature. All too easy to take hundreds of shots, all looking nice of such scenes as this.

See you in the 19th hole! ~ Herb

I'm not a golfer, but this makes a lovely landscape, Herb. Maybe join you at the 19th hole?

I think that the designers and builders of these golf courses look for the very best landscapes to place them. In that, it is a pity that most folk can't enjoy to walk over that ground but on the other hand, we can walk around them and that space is at least preserved from far worse things like housing or industry. Mine's a wee double dram on the rocks George. ~ Herb

Glad you liked it. Cheers, herb

A great pity Daniela. They are always a joy to behold and also to watch the play for real. Invariably beautifully landscaped into the surroundings. Maybe one day?
Thanks for calling around to see my offering anyway and maybe it will make up for that.
