Partial Luner Eclipse - July 16, 2019

Partial Luner Eclipse - July 16, 2019
A composite selection of my images, covering about 45 minutes, starting from left to right as the moon rose here in the North West of England at 22.30, before cloud obscured the complete full moon shortly afterwards.

Not quite as good as Steve Paxton's Eclipse

so it is in fact the first quarter of the second half of the eclips. This is a very nice sequence

Absolutely right Ko. When I dashed to the window, I noticed the earlier clouds had dissipated and there was just a bottom expanding band of the moon showing. As I waited more of the moon was revealed until with the last one here a large band of cloud was beginning to drop over the entire moon quite quickly. - I did wonder at one point, if the whole sequence I got was caused by some kind of clouds but on comparing these with other northern hemisphere shots, they look in keeping with those. Glad you liked it. ~ Herb

I like it a lot, well done! The comparison with Steve's sequence shows he was on the other side of the globe from you;-)

Good that you enjoy this. Yes Steve's moon was just dropping as ours was rising and he got the whole sequence rather than just the second half like I have here. Also, of course, he kept the camera locked in place and took his shots over time and then had them all stacked via software. I had to cheat with that, and placed just some of my shots here manually. There is sometimes more than one way to skin-a-cat :)

Well Herb it is me you have to thank for this marvellous set of images, I stole all the clouds before hand then released them after the eclipse had ended.

Maurice, you have my thanks for that then. I was amazed that just after an hour when I had looked out and saw much cloud that it all seemed to have gone your way for me at this moment. I will try to send you some sun, next week :)

Thanks for the visit and thought Toz but I don't think this effort compares with his in reality. Now, he does, take his night photography seriously -unlike me -as much as I try!!!

Too much cloud where I am Herb....................but I'm pleased you got a good result!

This is a superb composite, with all the shots well exposed and nicely sharp! Great work sir..!!

I wouldn't even know where to start putting something like this together ;-))

Keith, I must live in one of the worst places in Britain for night-sky photography, even though I am at the outside edge of one of our wildest wildernesses -The Pennines. the normal light pollution from our towns here is terrible but for this moon -it did not matter so much. Glad you liked it and sorry that you did not see it too. -I'm not bad at computer technicalities, it is getting good macros or studio shots that I struggle with :)

Herb a great sequence it showed you go way more colour than I did but I do like the almost mystique look to the shots.

Good to see you here Steve. I am very pleased that you liked this one. At first I was not sure that whether I was happy with the results but it has grown on me. Not bad for 45 minutes of frenzy. I should have taken your advice and prepared better. Shall I know better for the next time? Time will tell.

Hi Herb

Well done for putting this together! I am impressed.

It was almost totally obscured by clouds for us. I did get a quick look at the end, but after going out in sub zero temperatures in the middle of winter for the total eclipse ( www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/48011154 ) I didn't put a lot of effort into chasing this one round the country.

Best wishes
Peter
