The Colonels Bed Gorge

The Colonels Bed Gorge
The gorge itself runs deep below the line of trees here in the valley.

The Colonels Bed comes from an old story that a colonel murdered the husband of his lady-love, then took to flight, hiding deep in this gorge (see PiP), inside a cave next to the river. His lover brought food to him there for some time before he was discovered and met his fate.

This is about 3 miles NE of Braemar.

Great that you like this one Jeff. It was a wild walk and the Gorge was pretty good but dicey to walk around. and not the best place for photos. This is wild stag country.

That's quite a story! Two excellent shots. I love the PiP with that superb light and looks so good in portrait mode. Cheers, Rosa.

Thank you my dear friend. So glad that you like both of these shots. I did wonder about keeping the portrait one as a PiP.

Best Wishes, Herb
