  • The "ipernity on black" project / Le projet "ipernity sur fond noir"

    The ipernity on Black project

[EN] We are thinking about the possibility of browsing ipernity on black background, by clicking somewhere at the upper right corner. Here's a mockup of what the "on black" mode could be. Before we decide to implement this feature or not, we'd like to get your opinion and ideas about it. So feel free to leave a comment under this article! [FR] Nous réfléchissons actuellement sur la possibilité de parcourir ipernity sur fond noir, en cliquant quelque part dans le coin supérieur droit.… (read more)

  • Ipernity Dark skin, version 2017, by Spotomy

    IpernityDark2017

Once again I was switching the browser, this time from Opera to Chrome. I recalled the Stylish extension (add-on, plugin), which Spotomy recommended almost year ago: www.ipernity.com/blog/spo/4655884 Therefore I uploaded the latest Spotomy's dark style for ipernity also to userstyles.org. Now one should be able to get it into use more easily, and maybe also on more browsers. 1. First find and install Stylish extension for your browser (add-on, plugin): Chrome: chrome.google.com… (read more)

  • The Compelling Case for Past Intelligent Life on Mars

0000 Lead Collage for top photo in article pe pesharpforupload

Based on an increasing pool of scientific evidence, it is likely Mars was once “covered by oceans and lakes and was layered by a thick atmosphere, very much similar to Earth.” [1] In addition, per scientific studies, Mars had all the ingredients necessary for life: an abundance of water, an energy source, sufficient presence of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and phosphorous, all with the proper “atomic charge” and a stable environment capable of supporting life for at least a billion years… (read more)

  • It's been a drizzly day off and on........

All the new seeds are showing promise

Well no sunbathing for me today - in fact I wore my cardigan for a lot of the day. I did try to dry my washing on the line, but it became a mad dash out when I saw the dark clouds coming and it was only when I got out that I realised it had been raining gently for quite a while - damn....... So unpegging soggy clothes from the line, I brought them all in so they could be put into the tumble dryer later on. I so prefer the washing air dried - they smell so beautiful although the tumble dryer d… (read more)

  • Complete blackout and my pony has had a pony!!!

    Mum and son!!!!

Yesterday was just one of those days. For some reason my electricity decided to switch off and leave my house!!!! Nothing at all worked - and unfortunately I'm an all electric house. It also happened to be an extremely cold day. Luckily I pay for a complete cover of electricity, drains, plumbing, externally and internally as well as an infestation of mice, bees and other things. So I telephoned my service, bearing in mind I could only use my mobile as the main line telephone wouldn't work with t… (read more)

  • Mandi and Dogan have just been on Skype

    Boo with my neighbour, Yvonne

It was a lovely surprise - Mandi and Dogan called me on the internet and we spoke for nearly half an hour, til the Internet Gods decided to spoil the fun and shut down in Turkey!!! Anyway, they rang to not only say how much they missed me [awww] but missed Boo too [awww] and they didn't actually brag about the weather neither - that was because it'd been raining today!!! They did say, however, that they'd done the visa application on-line this afternoon and so with a bit of luck, the Consulat… (read more)

  • So you want to -- get ready for FITS

A standardized image format is something most users take for granted -- JPG, GIF, PNG and even TIFF are household names when it comes to (web)-images & editing. If you use a dSLR, you have gotten used to adding a tool or two, to process the Nikon or Canon RAW formats. With the astronomy cameras, the formats & necessary conversions become a real mess -- especially if you use a one-shot color "OSC" camera.

  • a brisk walk on a very cold day

On a cold blustery day the fireside is the best place so I layered up and went for a walk instead. I had to pick my magic smarties up from the chemist anyway, so I just carried on from there down to the rugby field for some shots of the fells. Black Combe is clear of snow again but the Lake district fells still have a covering. I left there and wandered along the promenade wending my way home the long way round. Beside the sea in was bitterly cold as you would expect so I only lingered long eno… (read more)

  • The blossom is almost out, and there is a new cat on the block!!!!!

A little visitor, who I thought was Pippin once.

Well I've noticed a little black cat who seems to think it's his garden now - and comes up most days and just relaxes. Apparently he belongs to one of my other neighbours, and he has two other siblings to play with, but he seems to be a loner, and comes up here on his own. Very pretty little thing. I recognise his blue collar, which with all the trees around, I worry about cats being strangled if caught on the branches. He seems to manage it okay though. Whilst sitting in my lounge, I… (read more)

  • I imagine you - Imagino-te

By Mid-morning I Imagine And Want You

Suddenly by mid-morning I imagine and want you irremediably. The space separating us is from memory falling asleep to forget you by mid-morning. Coming up light into concentric circles egocentric of sun vibrate lubricious specters into my eyes. To dawn on you to draw on you to grow dark on you clandestine destiny of me at the top of the slope I climb. It is under moderate joy I face the daily life and its transfiguration. Mainly by mid-morning I imagine and want you i… (read more)

  • CORRECTION....... I have Petunias not peonies..

I think this is a Californian poppy - cos it's orange

Before I go and look at my page for yesterday's blog, I just want to apologise for saying that I'd bought peonies the other day - I hadn't......... No doubt the gardeners of you out there were shouting at your computer at me, saying .... probably rude words..... that I was wrong. LOL They are petunias - so sorry for any confusion... The sun came out today, well this afternoon it did and it was lovely and warm. I looked outside and saw how long the grass was on the lawn - this meant I had t… (read more)

  • What a Laugh

On Friday I had a good time out with friends. They’d been to this pub before, with quite a few guide dogs however they had asked and forewarned the manager about the dogs. He Okayed it. As we walked in on Friday, one of our group heard the barman utter ‘Oh no, not again.’ When asked to repeat what he’d said, he ignored us all. Apart from that, we had a good time. We only had 2 guide dogs and they were quiet and didn’t bother anyone. The same can’t be said for the kids there who were running arou… (read more)

  • Free Food

After a glorious sunny day on Wednesday, we’re back to rain today – Thursday. A lot of the UK is forecast rain today, so it’s not just Wales being lashed by wind and rain. On a recent walk with the dog I found what looks for all the world like an olive tree! It’s not a small tree, and is on public land, so I’m keeping an eye on that. I took a leaf from the tree and looked up olive trees, and it does look like it’s an olive tree. How weird is that? My sister is coming up soon for a meal, and I… (read more)

  • Chasing the Holy Grail of Eclipses

    Article Header

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. [Acts 2:20] Actually instead of doom and gloom, 8 April 2024 proved to be a surreal, awesome, joyful and even life-changing day for many who had watched as the eclipse unfolded with anticipation, excitement and awe. Since 21 August 2017 when our area (the NYC metro region) experienced a partial solar eclipse, Don and I had resolved to see totality in a solar eclipse set fo… (read more)
