Very nice lighting on the strands of grass and the lake. The composition is great. The seagull is well highlighted against the interesting dark tones.

Thank you very much GIllian =) This is the advantages of digital cameras. I remember time when I had Olympus OM4 SLR equipped with spot light meter. It was a great feature to have especially when shooting on slides. I should start using spot meter also on my Canon G12 more often....

I agree with the 'hate them' statement... they are nasty birds.. but this baby has a nice warm light to play in.

Yes =) Those seagulls are not stupid animal at all. For example they have learned to recognize me and our dog. We always appreciate them and walk far enough avoiding not to disturb them deliberately.

Great capture, Sami! It's like a spotlight on the bird. I enjoyed reading all the technical talk. You verified what I suspected; that I would need to underexpose the photo to get the result I wanted in my living room (I wanted to use the sun as my light source). Not being very technically able drove me out of the house and into Winterthur Gardens to get the kind of photo I wanted, lol!
